Workshop: “Developing Grant Project Concepts”

As part of Science Week at Chernihiv Polytechnic National University, the Centre for Project Activities organised a workshop entitled “Developing Grant Project Concepts”, which took place on 12 and 14 May 2026 in an in-person format

The event was organised for academic and teaching staff and students of the university with the aim of developing practical skills in preparing grant project concepts in accordance with the requirements of international programmes and competitions. Representatives from all academic and research institutes of Chernihiv Polytechnic National University joined the workshop, which facilitated an interdisciplinary exchange of experience and discussion of the prospects for implementing joint initiatives.

On the first day of the workshop, participants familiarised themselves with the specifics of the Erasmus+ and Horizon Europe programmes, examined the structure of the application form and the process of drawing up a project budget. Significant attention was paid to the logic behind developing a project concept and the interrelationship between the main elements of the application. The practical part involved group work to define the structural components of a project application, in particular the formulation of the mission, objectives and outcomes. A separate stage of the work involved a critical analysis of the concept note, focusing on identifying common mistakes and improving the structure of the project proposal.

On the second day of the event, participants examined examples of how to structure work packages, including their objectives, tasks, deliverables and milestones. As part of the practical work, participants refined the concept note by adding the necessary structural components, presented the results of their work and discussed recommendations for the further development of project ideas.

The workshop helped to deepen the knowledge of academic staff and postgraduate students in the field of international grant-making and to develop their skills in preparing project concepts.

The workshop was held as part of the WIN2EDIH project. Co-funded by the European Union.
