A guest lecture by international experts on corruption prevention was held

On 14 May 2026, as part of the “Future of Europe Programme – European Union Law Studies for Ukraine”, a guest online lecture was held for students and academic staff on the topic of “Legal Regulation of Corruption Prevention (Anti-Bribery / Corruption Regulation)”

The speakers at the event were representatives of the international law firm Jones Day — Veronica Dragalin (Washington) and Paloma Valor (Madrid), who shared with participants current approaches to combating corruption at the international and national levels.

During the lecture, the importance of the fight against corruption as a key factor in ensuring the rule of law, sustainable development and trust in state institutions was highlighted. The speakers paid particular attention to international legal standards in this area, specifically the provisions of the UN Convention against Corruption, the Convention on Combating Bribery of Foreign Public Officials in International Business Transactions, and the activities of the Group of States against Corruption (GRECO) under the Council of Europe. EU standards and the process of their harmonisation with national legislation were highlighted separately.

The discussion on the functioning of national anti-corruption systems, in particular financial control mechanisms, asset declarations, and legal protection for whistleblowers, generated considerable interest.

The practical part of the lecture focused on internal anti-corruption policies within companies. The speakers examined model compliance programmes, explained the reasons for their implementation, and demonstrated how such mechanisms work in practice. Of particular value to participants were the examples of real-life cases illustrating the application of anti-corruption legislation.

The event attracted interest among students and academic staff and helped to deepen knowledge in the field of corruption prevention.
