Students and lecturers from Chernihiv Polytechnic National University took part in the Sustainable Development Ambassador Camp, which took place from 28 June to 4 July 2026 in Piešťany (Slovakia). The event was organised by Danubius University as part of the ERASMUS+ SUSTED project and brought together representatives from partner universities across various countries to discuss pathways to sustainable development, leadership and Ukraine’s post-war reconstruction.

The camp programme covered a wide range of topics related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the role of the European Union in achieving them. The first working day was devoted to expert perspectives on European integration and strategic relations, as well as the theme ‘The EU and Sustainability: Development for the Future’. Participants took part in interactive debates on the role of a leader in post-war reconstruction and the implementation of the SDGs, and the day concluded with an eco-quest entitled ‘17 Steps to a Sustainable Future’.

The second day was devoted to the European dimension of the SDGs and the global challenges facing the European Union in 2026 in the context of sustainable development. The day culminated in a ‘Battle of Ideas’ on the theme ‘SDGs and Ukraine: the future despite the challenges’, in which students from several Ukrainian universities took part.

On the third day, participants discussed the EU’s role in global sustainable development and Slovakia’s experience in education for sustainable growth, and also played the board game ‘Keep Cool’, which was facilitated by representatives from Chernihiv Polytechnic National University. This session built on the work previously started by the university team during the camp and sparked a lively discussion among participants from various regions of Ukraine. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the NGO ‘EcoVisio’ (Moldova) for providing the materials for the game!

The fourth day was devoted to practical activities: an open-air green workshop in the city park, an interactive quiz on the Kahoot platform, and the foresight lab ‘Community of the Future: From Recovery to Sustainable Development’.

The final day of the camp included the CSR innovation lab ‘Building the Future Together’, an open session to share impressions, and closing presentations by the participants.
