Strategic Aspects of Ensuring the Sustainability of International Initiatives within the Activities of the TURBO Project Team
On April 7, 2026, Chernihiv Polytechnic National University hosted a roundtable discussion titled “Sustainability of International Project Results: Experience, Insights, Recommendations.” The TURBO project team joined the event, which focused on a critical aspect of modern project management: ensuring the viability and long-term impact of grant initiatives following the conclusion of external funding. For the TURBO team, participation in this discussion served not only as a platform for exchanging experience but also as a strategic stage for verifying their own approaches to implementing results within the scientific and educational environment.
The discussion focused on practical cases of Erasmus+ and Horizon Europe programs, enabling the TURBO representatives to conduct a thorough comparative analysis of management methodologies. The project team emphasized that sustainability is not a formal final stage but must be embedded in the foundation of every managerial action, starting from the planning of research and educational components. This carries particular significance under the conditions of martial law, where the team’s flexibility and adaptability become decisive factors in preserving institutional achievements.
The TURBO team concentrated on studying the institutionalization tools presented within the PROMENT and UNICITIES projects. Issues regarding the integration of established mentoring networks and the results of cross-sectoral cooperation into internal university processes directly correlate with the objectives of TURBO. The team members concluded that ensuring sustainability requires the systematic use of the established material and technical facilities as well as the continuous validation of training courses. Such an approach allows for the transformation of short-term achievements into sustainable innovative vectors for the development of the higher education institution.
The main aim of TURBO project “The Universities’ Reaction to Big Obstructions: Building resilient higher education to respond and manage societal crises” is to increase the resilience, preparedness and responsiveness of Ukrainian higher education institutions (HEIs) by building their capacities, improving competencies and sharing experiences.
