We express our gratitude to Serhii Kozmenko and the editorial board of the magazine “Problems and Perspectives of Management” for the initiative in organizing the special issue “Academic Management in War Conditions”. This special issue of a journal recognized in Ukraine and far beyond its borders is aimed at covering the issues of educational resistance to the challenges of wartime. The authors were creative teams of higher education institutions from different parts of our country. Moreover, the mentioned initiative significantly contributed to the activation of support for the Defenders of Ukraine.

Scientists of the Chernihiv Polytechnic National University have prepared an article for placement in a special issue of the magazine “Problems and Prospects of Management”. This article managed to depict the scale of destruction and losses of the Chernihiv Polytechnic during the period of active hostilities in the territory of the Chernihiv region.

It should be noted that Chernihiv Polytechnic is located in the northern region of Ukraine, which immediately borders two aggressor countries (Russia and Belarus). Accordingly, due to its proximity to the border, the Chernihiv region was one of the first in Ukraine to experience Russian attacks. The morning of February 24 marked the beginning of a terrible period in the life of every resident of Chernihiv. At that moment, students of higher education and employees of the university faced challenges for which they were not ready, but they were forced to respond to them promptly in order to preserve life and health. More details about the trials faced by our students and colleagues are given in the article. The article is prepared in English in order to reach a foreign audience as much as possible and to be understandable to our foreign partners.
