Open Lecture Dedicated to Civil Society Week

As part of Civil Society Week at Chernihiv Polytechnic National University, an open online lecture on “Civil Society as a Basic Factor in the Formation of National Consciousness and Security” was held.

Lecturer – Volodymyr Mandrahelia, Doctor of Philosophical Sciences, Professor, Professor at the Department of Philosophy and Social Sciences.

The lecturer focused on civil society as an important space for self-organization, social interaction, and responsible civic participation. Participants examined the concept of civil society, its main forms, and its role in modern society – from public associations, professional and cultural unions to local initiatives, independent media, academic communities, and other forms of citizen self-organization.

Global challenges to national identity and threats to societal resilience were analyzed. Special attention was paid to the interconnection of civil society, national consciousness, and public safety. The discussion highlighted how an active civic stance, solidarity, capacity for self-organization, and participation in addressing socially significant issues contribute to building social cohesion and a resilient society.

Importantly, the lecture gathered a wide audience – students, lecturers, representatives of the university community, and everyone interested in the issues of civil society, social transformations, national consciousness, and safety.

The open lecture served as an opportunity not only to gain new knowledge but also to reflect on key questions: What is the role of a citizen in society? How does civic self-organization affect the state’s resilience? Why is a developed civil society an essential condition for public safety?

We express our gratitude to Professor Volodymyr Mandraheli for an insightful lecture, and to all participants for their attention and interest!
