Practical Training on Media and Information Literacy “Filter Information – Create Change”
On September 15, as part of Civil Society Week at Chernihiv Polytechnic National University, a practical training session on media and information literacy “Filter Information – Create Change” took place. The trainer of the event was Iryna Kovalova, Associate Professor at the Department of Philosophy and Social Sciences.
The event was aimed at developing critical thinking, fact-checking skills, as well as countering disinformation and information-psychological operations in the modern digital space. During the meeting, participants analyzed source analysis cases, learned to recognize manipulative headlines and fakes, and mastered clear algorithms for data verification and protecting their own info-space.
The trainer paid special attention to how the conscious consumption and dissemination of verified content affects the building of a democratic society, because media literacy today is not just a basic skill, but an important form of civic responsibility.
