It all began in 1960…

1960

On May 11, the General Technical Faculty was established in Chernihiv by Decree № 651 of the Council of Ministers of the Ukrainian SSR, which was subordinated to Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. E.H. Kalyta, a competent authority of the higher school was appointed the Dean of the Faculty.

1965

On February 23, Chernihiv Branch of Kiev Polytechnic Institute was created by Order № 99 of the Minister of Higher and Secondary Special Education of the Ukrainian SSR as from September 1, which comprised three faculties: Mechanical, Technological and General Technical Faculty. E.H. Kalyta was nominated as the Branch Director.

1965-1991

Chernihiv Branch of KPI developed as a higher technical educational institution providing the region with highly skilled engineering staff.
The Branch Directors were: P.O. Rudenko, PhD in Technical Sciences, Associate Professor (1982 – 1986), O.l. Denysov, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Honoured Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine (1986 – 2009).

1991

Chernihiv Branch of Kiev Polytechnic Institute became an independent institution of higher education Chernihiv Technological Institute.

1999

Chernihiv Technological Institute was given the highest status educational qualification and became Chernihiv State Technological University.

2010

Since 2010 the University has been headed by S.M. Shkarlet, Doctor of Economics, Professor, Honoured Worker of Science of Ukraine.

2011

Chernihiv State Institute of Law, Social Technologies and Labour (founded in 1969, once the only institution in Ukraine, which trained specialists for social protection of population) joined the University.

2011

Chernihiv Commercial College was joined to the Chernihiv State Technological University as a structural unit of the university – the College of Economics and Technology of the University by Order № 971of the Ministry of Education and Science, Youth and Sports of Ukraine dated August 11, 2011.

College of Economics and Technology of the Chernihiv State Technological University got the status of a separate structural unit of the Chernihiv State Technological University in accordance with the Order № 875 of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine dated July 25, 2014.

The amendments to the Order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine “On changing the status of the College of Economics and Technology of the Chernihiv National University of Technology” dated July 25, 2014 № 875 were made by the order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine № 949 dated August 21, 2014. (Founded in 1966, it has been providing training of skilled workers for trade, hotel and restaurant industry. M.V. Sokol has been the College Director since 2006).

2013

Chernihiv College of Transport and Computer Technologies was reorganized by joining the Chernihiv National University of Technology as a structural unit – the College of Transport and Computer Technologies of CNUT by the Order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine № 1639 dated November 28, 2013.

The amendments to the order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine dated № 1639 dated November 28, 2013 were made and The Chernihiv College of Transport and Computer Technologies was reorganized by joining the Chernihiv National University of Technology as a separate structural unit – the College of Transport and computer technologies CNUT in accordance with the order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine № 611 dated May 20, 2014. (The College was established in 1967 as Chernihiv Radiomechanical Technical School and has been headed by V.M. Radchenko (Cand. Sc., Associate professor, Honoured Worker of Education) since 1996).

2013

On October 4, Chernihiv State Technological University was granted the status of “National” by Presidential Decree № 544/2013 and became Chernihiv National University of Technology.

2014

Chernihiv State Institute of Economics and Management joined the University according the orders of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine № 103 dated February 05, 2014, and № 510 dated April 23, 2014. During its independent existence the higher educational establishment was headed by: B.l. Suhovirskyi (1994-2002), the Honoured Worker of Education, Academician of National Progress Sciences of Ukraine, PhD in Technical Sciences; V.O. Borovoi (2002-2007), Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor; I.S. Kaleniuk (2008-2013), Doctor of Economics, Professor; V.V. Kazymyr (2013-2014), Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor.

2019

Chernihiv National University of Technology was renamed into the Chernihiv Polytechnic National University according to the Order of the Ministry of Education and Science № 1532 dated December 10, 2019.

2020

On November 25, 2020, the election of the rector of the Chernihiv Polytechnic National University took place.
Oleh Oleksandrovych Novomlynets, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor was elected the Rector of theChernihiv Polytechnic National University.

The long history of formation and development, traditions and powerful educational and scientific potential of the University indicate that Chernihiv National University of Technology has always been and will remain a worthy leader of higher education in Ukraine, an actual training centre of highly qualified specialists ready to devote their knowledge and strength to the development of our country.
