The project “Steps to safe community: bullying prevention in the youth environment” is implemented by the NGO “Chernihiv European” in partnership with the National University “Chernihiv Polytechnic” under a small grants program administered by ISAR Unity in within the framework of the United Nations Peacebuilding and Peacebuilding Program with the financial support of the European Union.

The project team “Steps to safe community: bullying prevention in the youth environment” has developed an innovative approach to bullying prevention, based on a combination of cognitive and emotional components of information perception. The project developed a board game “Danger in Jungles” and a social performance. Through play and performance, imaginary parallels are drawn between the animal world and the human world. The main message of the project “People are not animals”.

In November, project activities took place in educational institutions of territorial communities, in particular in Ripkynsky Support ZZSO, Koryukivska Secondary School I-III № 1, Gorodnyansky Lyceum № 2 and Bakhmatskaya Secondary School I-III grades. № 5. The project team (associate professors of the Department of Social Work TM Detsyuk, project coordinator, Zakharina MI, Maksom KV and Head of the Department of Marketing of PR-technologies and logistics Verbytska AV) conducted master classes to use the board game “Danger in Jungles” to prevent bullying in the school environment. Social educators and psychologists trained in the use of gamification prevention tools for bullying received certificates from project mentors and copies of a board game to implement prevention activities with students.

Students of educational institutions watched a video of the social performance “People are not animals”, which is aimed at enhancing the emotional perception of the problem of bullying and its consequences. Expert-psychologist of the project Ph.D. Maxim KV moderated the discussion of the performance with students.

The measures are implemented within the project “Steps to safe community: bullying prevention in the youth environment”, which is implemented by the NGO “Chernihiv European” under the small grants program administered by ISAR Unity under the UN Program. on restoring and building peace with the financial support of the European Union.

For reference: The UN Peacebuilding Program #UNRPP is implemented by four UN agencies: the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the United Nations Framework for Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment (UN Women), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the Food and the United Nations Agricultural Organization (FAO). The UN Peacebuilding and Peacebuilding Program has been addressing priority needs in eastern Ukraine since the beginning of the armed conflict in the spring of 2014. The program aims to strengthen public security and social cohesion, support the reconstruction of the economies of conflict-affected communities, and implement reforms to decentralize power and health care in the Ukrainian-controlled territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
