Meetings to prevent domestic violence

The non-governmental organization Chernihiv European continues the implementation of the project “Creating a space for social changes” as part of the national initiative “Supporting community projects to change social norms to prevent domestic and gender-based violence”, which is implemented within the framework of cooperation between UNFPA and the NGO “Innovative Social Solutions” with the support of the Bureau USAID humanitarian aid.

The project, implemented in the city of Chernihiv, aims to raise the level of awareness and deepen understanding of the problem of preventing domestic violence among the youth of the Chernihiv city community through cultural and educational events.

As part of the second stage of project implementation, the public organization Chernihiv European held thematic meetings with young people “Gender-based stereotypes in the professional self-determination of teenagers. Analysis and consequences”, the purpose of which is to form a constructive discussion among young people in order to increase their awareness of gender-based violence.

At the events, the city’s youth joined in viewing and discussing videos developed by the United Nations Population Fund in Ukraine (UNFPA), dedicated to this topic. Lively discussions and polemics continued even in the vaults!

Young people showed great interest in discussing gender stereotypes existing in modern society, possible ways to dispel these stereotypes and eradicate discriminatory ideas about the social roles and responsibilities of women and men, as well as any customs and traditions based on them.

If you were unable to attend these meetings, but you are interested in these issues, we suggest you join the workshops that will be devoted to this topic.https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1o3cpVzfB8xaRn07K8omnQYm4ANneQOWDZLlQ6IF4FeA/viewform?edit_requested=true
