Kick-off meeting for the P2R Chernihiv4Climate project
On 31 March 2026, a kick-off meeting was held in a hybrid format at Chernihiv Polytechnic National University as part of the international project “Chernihiv for Climate Action and Sustainable Transformation” (Chernihiv4Climate).
The event brought together representatives from government bodies, the business sector, the scientific community and regional civil society organisations to discuss the strategic directions for implementing the project and to agree on joint actions. The meeting began with an official opening and welcoming remarks by Viacheslav Chaus, Head of the Chernihiv Regional Military Administration; Oleh Novomlynets, Rector of Chernihiv Polytechnic National University; and Anatolii Prystupa, Vice-Rector for Research at the university.
During the event, the Chernihiv4Climate project was presented, including its key objectives, tasks and expected outcomes. Participants paid significant attention to the distribution of roles and responsibilities among the consortium partners (Chernihiv Polytechnic National University, the Chernihiv Regional Development Agency, and “Sirocco Energy” LLC), as well as to defining the programme outcomes for the sustainable transformation of the Chernihiv region. Mechanisms for communication, dissemination of results and ensuring the project’s visibility were discussed, as well as approaches to reporting during its implementation.
Participants engaged in an open discussion, during which they exchanged views, made suggestions and outlined the next steps for cooperation. The event marked an important milestone in establishing effective collaboration between all stakeholders and laid the groundwork for the implementation of initiatives in the field of climate adaptation and sustainable development in the Chernihiv region.
