Kick-off meeting as part of the Erasmus+ KA2 TeDiMeLi international project
A team from Chernihiv Polytechnic National University took part in the kick-off meeting of the Erasmus+ KA2 TeDiMeLi international project, “Teaching Digital Media Literacy in Times of Societal Change in Ukraine” (“Teaching Digital Media Literacy in Times of Societal Change in Ukraine”), which took place on 4–8 May 2026 at Dresden University of Technology (Germany). The event brought together representatives of Ukrainian and European partner universities for the official launch of a large-scale initiative aimed at developing digital media literacy in Ukraine as a tool for strengthening information security, critical thinking and societal resilience in the context of profound social transformations.
The TeDiMeLi project involves the establishment of Digital Media Literacy Centres at four Ukrainian universities, including Chernihiv Polytechnic National University. These centres will serve as hubs for interdisciplinary education, the development of training courses, micro-qualifications, digital platforms and self-learning programmes for students, lecturers and the wider public. Particular attention is paid to supporting vulnerable and under-represented groups, which underscores the project’s social mission and its contribution to Ukraine’s post-war recovery.
The programme for the kick-off meeting included official welcoming speeches by the management of Dresden University of Technology, a strategic lecture by the project coordinator, Professor Holger Kussé, on the role of digital media literacy in the context of societal change, a presentation by the European Project Centre, as well as a series of working sessions dedicated to the project structure, work packages, progress indicators, the reporting system, staff professional development, legal and financial aspects, the communication strategy and the establishment of working groups. Representatives from Chernihiv Polytechnic National University took part in key strategic discussions regarding the content of future educational programmes, the development of digital competences, and the adaptation of European experience to the Ukrainian context.
The participation of the team from Chernihiv Polytechnic National University in the event demonstrated the active role of our institution in shaping Ukraine’s new educational architecture, focused on the development of media literacy, digital security and democratic values. Cooperation with leading European partners, in particular the Technical University of Dresden (Germany) and the University of Innsbruck (Austria), opens up new opportunities for institutional development, international integration and the implementation of innovative educational practices.
