Another step towards the European Community.
On March 14, the opening of the public discussion of the project “Management Plan for the Dnieper River Basin: Upper Dnieper and Desna River Subbasins” was held at Chernihiv Polytechnic University, which was organized by the Desnia Water Resources Basin Management. The meeting was attended by representatives of the State Water Resources Agency of Ukraine, the Ministry of Environment of Ukraine, the Department of Ecology and Natural Resources of Chernihiv Regional State Administration, the State Environmental Inspection in Chernihiv Oblast, the Regional Office of Water Resources in Sumy Oblast, representatives of communities in Chernihiv and Sumy Oblasts, representatives of environmental public organizations in the city of Chernigov.
Ihor Hobchak, head of the State Water Agency, Oleksandr Rybalka, head of the Desnya BUVR, and Serhiy Tsybulya, head of the Basin Council of Desna and the Upper Dnipro, made a welcome speech.
The river basin management plan is a component of the implementation of the EU Water Framework Directive into national legislation and is aimed at implementing the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU. The project was presented by the Blue Rivers Environmental Consulting development team.
Scientific and pedagogical staff of the Department of Food Technologies and Ecology and students of the specialty “Ecology” also took part in the discussion.
