The Tutor School is over
From 22 to 24 April 2025, the Tutors’ School was held at the Chernihiv Polytechnic National University as part of the international Erasmus+ KA2 PROMENT project “Promoting professional education and students engagement through comprehensive mentoring and tutoring system at HEIs”.
The goal of the School is to train future tutors who will help first-year students adapt to the new educational environment, develop communication and self-management skills starting from 1 September 2025. More than 50 students from the university and 2 vocational colleges took part in the tutor School, who expressed a desire not only to study but also to help others – to be there for newcomers, support them, inspire and motivate them.
During the School, the participants learned about the basic forms and principles of tutoring, the ethics of the relationship between tutor and tutee, discussed real-life tutoring cases, practiced formulating topics for tutoring meetings, and learned how to effectively record their results to identify areas for self-development (coaches Remnova L., Nitchenko A., Kholodnytska A.). During the team-building training ‘LEVEL UP: skills of a new generation tutor’, future tutors were able to improve their leadership, empathy, communication and teamwork skills. We thank psychologist Oleksandra Serdiuk (Charitable foundation ‘Rokada’) for her high professionalism and creating a relaxed atmosphere for effective interaction and cooperation.
The end of the tutor School is only the beginning. Real tutoring practice, the first meetings with freshmen, real challenges and new opportunities for self-development are ahead.
