Study visit of the delegation of Chernihiv Polytechnic National University to WSEI University (Poland)
From 20 to 24 October 2025, a delegation from Chernihiv Polytechnic National University made a study visit to WSEI University (Lubelska Akademia WSEI, Lublin, Poland) as part of the international project SUSTED ‘Education for Sustainable Development: Synergy of Competences for Ukraine’s Recovery.’
The purpose of the study visit was to improve the competencies of representatives of Ukrainian universities in the field of education for sustainable development and to familiarise them with European experience in integrating sustainable development Goals into curricula, educational strategies and the activities of higher education institutions. The visit programme included intensive training modules that combined theoretical aspects of sustainable development and practical approaches to its implementation in higher education:
- Module 1. Introduction to the concept of sustainable development and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) (trainer – Prof. Tomasz Wolowiec, PhD, WSEI Academy): participants learned about the key principles of sustainable development, the international framework of SDGs and practical examples of their implementation in EU educational institutions;
- Module 2. Methods and tools for teaching sustainable development (trainer – Dr Martsin Marchuk): innovative pedagogical approaches, digital resources and interactive teaching methods that promote the formation of ecological thinking and social responsibility among higher education students were discussed;
- Module 3. Monitoring, evaluation and reporting on sustainable development activities (trainer – Dr Martsin Marchuk): tools for internal auditing of university initiatives, indicators of SDG implementation effectiveness and approaches to reporting at the institutional level were presented;
- Module 4. Development of university programmes and strategies in the field of SDGs (trainer – Dr. Sylwia Skrzypek): approaches to integrating sustainable development principles into the strategic documents of higher education institutions, creating interdisciplinary programmes and developing partnerships to achieve SDGs were discussed.
In addition to participating in training sessions as part of the study visit programme, representatives of Chernihiv Polytechnic National University also took part in the exporters’ Congress, which included discussions on sustainable development in the field of export and logistics, as well as establishing partnerships with representatives of the business and educational communities in Poland. The final stage of the visit was the presentation of certificates to participants and a familiarisation trip to the Pszczółka confectionery factory (Lublin), where the delegation learned about the principles of corporate social responsibility and the company’s environmental practices.
As part of the study visit, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between WSEI University (Lubelska Akademia WSEI, Poland) and Chernihiv Polytechnic National University, laying the foundation for further development of partnerships, joint educational initiatives and academic exchanges.
We express our sincere gratitude to WSEI University (Lubelska Akademia WSEI, Lublin) for the high level of organisation of the study visit, the warm welcome given to the participants and the creation of a favourable atmosphere for professional exchange of experience. The training sessions were characterised by a high methodological level, practical orientation and relevance of content, while the accompanying events were notable for their substance, openness to dialogue and the opportunity to establish new partnerships in the field of education for sustainable development.
