FIRST-YEAR PHILOLOGY STUDENTS OF CHERNIHIV POLYTECHNIC NATIONAL UNIVERSITY WERE ACTIVELY ENGAGED TO WORLD CLEANUP DAY 2025
On September 20, 2025, Ukraine together with 211 countries of the world joined the World Cleanup Day. In many regions of the country, events were held to promote a culture of cleanliness and careful attitude to nature. The Department of Foreign Philology of Chernihiv Polytechnic National University also actively participated in this initiative.
“Youth, energy and responsibility!” – with this slogan first-year philology students joined the cleanup: Krekoten Sofiia (ІФ-251), Loboda Sofiia (ІФ-251), Kurylenko Anastasiia (ІФ-252), and Nechai Oleksandra (ІФ-252).
Even in the difficult time of war, young people demonstrate concern and a desire to change the world around them. The example of these philology students proves that modern philology is not only about words but also about real actions that benefit society. Future specialists in language, literature and translation showed that awareness of environmental issues is part of both professional and civic responsibility, and that caring for a clean environment is just as important as caring for the accuracy of the word.
Thanks to a special box received from Let’s do it Ukraine, participants had everything necessary for safe and effective work: gloves, garbage bags, wet wipes and other supplies. Together with teachers and the local community, our students contributed to making the environment cleaner and more comfortable.
Their participation became evidence that ecological awareness is a way of life, not just a temporary trend. The activity of first-year philology students is an example for all university students.
