Victory in the Pathways2Resilience project

We are delighted to be among the 62 regions selected for the Pathways2Resilience project!

Chernihiv Polytechnic National University, together with the Chernihiv Regional Development Agency and “Sirocco Energy” LLC, have received a subgrant to implement the project “Chernihiv for Climate Action and Sustainable Transformation.” The aim of the project is to develop a comprehensive Climate Resilience Strategy, Action Plan and Investment Plan for the Chernihiv Region.

Our region was selected due to its unique challenges and vulnerabilities, and we are ready to be a driving force for change in building a more resilient and sustainable future.

During the competition within the Pathways2Resilience project, the flagship project of the EU Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change, 62 European regions were selected to strengthen their climate change adaptation plans. Launched in 2023, the programme currently involves a total of 100 local and regional authorities, representing over 100 million people, in a series of training activities aimed at improving their preparedness for the impacts of climate change through the application of proven approaches to sustainability planning.

The regions selected in 2026, home to around 55 million people, have identified the main climate threats affecting infrastructure, public safety and the cultural sector: coastal and river flooding (43%), heat stress (36%) and droughts (21%). Each region will receive grant funding as well as access to customised tools and guidance, interactive peer learning, mentoring and expert support. Over 18 months, cohort participants will develop a comprehensive climate resilience strategy, as well as an action plan and investment plan. This second round is the final allocation of cascade funding for the EU-funded project.

We look forward to the journey ahead!
