UNESCO training course on the structural analysis of cultural buildings starts

On 17 February, a training course on the structural analysis of cultural buildings was launched at the University.

The course is organised by UNESCO in cooperation with the Japanese Funds-in-Trust, and its implementation and coordination is carried out by the Chernihiv Polytechnic National University.

The training course will be conducted by a group of international experts: Professor Paulo B. Lourenço and President of the ICOMOS Scientific Committee on the Analysis and Restoration of Architectural Heritage ISCARSAH, UNESCO expert Pedro Pacheco.

Teachers and students of the Educational-Scientific Institute of Engineering, Manufacturing and Construction, as well as representatives of the Department of Culture and Tourism of the Chernihiv City Council, the National architectural and historical reserve “Ancient Chernihiv”, the Department of Urban Planning and Architecture of the Chernihiv Regional State Administration, and design organisations joined the course.

Participants will have the opportunity to gain invaluable experience from the world’s leading experts in the field of cultural heritage preservation, and will gain knowledge of methods of inspection and diagnosis of the condition of buildings, including non-destructive testing and the use of modern structural analysis.
