TURBO: an educational programme for the development of small and medium-sized businesses. Business English – communication for professional growth
As part of the microcredential educational programme for retraining and social adaptation of internally displaced persons, the course ‘English in Business’ is being conducted to develop the language competencies necessary for effective communication in a professional environment. The course is aimed at developing the ability to use English fluently in a typical business context.
The course is taught by Yuliia Shevchenko, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Foreign Philology.
The course content covers the following topics: meeting and networking, social interaction, daily work responsibilities, company structure, problem solving, products and sales, business travel, intercultural communication, employment, CV and job application preparation.
The class format combines interactive assignments, video viewing and discussion, role-playing games, analysis of authentic business situations and modelling of workplace communications. This approach makes it possible to bring learning as close as possible to a real business context and creates a safe environment for English language practice.
