Training program for new teachers of the IFES course on civic education.
22 participants from different parts of Ukraine met at the First Training on Interactive Teaching Methods of the course “Democracy: From Theory to Practice”, the purpose of which is the formation of knowledge, skills and attitudes related to effective democratic citizenship of students.
The vice-rector of the university Melnyk Olha, associate professor of the department of philosophy and social sciences took part from NU Chernihiv Polytechnic.
The participants of the training got acquainted with the content of the course, the experience of teaching the subject and practical tips for conducting training sessions. The training also improved participants’ knowledge of information and communication technologies that can be used in teaching the course.
Trainers paid special attention to exercises and methods aimed at students’ ability to think, analyze, compare, evaluate and systematize information. The formation of key competencies in students was a separate topic of communication between the participants of the meeting. The highlight of the event was communication with the author of the course, Burroughs Greer.
