TOLOCAR in Chernihiv: a workshop on wheels for the future of communities
In Chernihiv, the mobile makerspace TOLOCAR has been transferred for permanent use to the NGO “Eco City” and Chernihiv Polytechnic National University. This innovative space will promote the development of STEM education, career guidance for young people, and the reconstruction of the region. TOLOCAR will become a platform for prototyping, training, and supporting communities, schoolchildren, and start-ups. The project is being implemented as part of the international GIZ initiative with the support of the German government.
‘If we look back a little at history, in principle, since 2010, the university has been implementing a large programme called ’University in the Life of the Region”. And over these 15 years, more than five hundred different projects aimed at helping and developing our communities have been implemented. We want to transform three old cinema halls and create one mini workshop. It will house a variety of equipment that will allow any member of our community, whether a student, schoolchild or adult with an idea, to come here and, with the help of our start-up centre staff, develop a prototype and then implement it in real production,” said Oleh Novomlynets, rector of Chernihiv Polytechnic National University.
The mobile makerspace will allow knowledge and skills to be shared, bringing together makers from all over Ukraine.
