The participants of the meeting were able to ask the author questions, learn about the features of practical experience from Ukrainian art therapist Svitlana Homeniuk, and also receive a free copy of the book. The team from Chernihiv Polytechnic National University took part in the final International Online Conference on the Academic Managers Professional Development Program. The conference was attended by management teams from 60 Ukrainian universities, who presented Institutional Change Projects. These are practical steps for the transformation of universities: from rethinking their role in society and implementing new HR policies to changes in financial planning and modernization of development strategies
The participants were welcomed by Colm McGivern, Director of the British Council, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Mykola Trofymenko outlined the priorities of state policy in the field of higher education, and Svitlana Kalashnikova, Advisor to the Directorate of the Institute of Higher Education of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Leader of the Program’s expert team, presented the results of the first cycle of the Program.
Keynote speakers also included Alison Jones, Global Ambassador for Advance HE, who shared an international perspective on the challenges facing higher education leaders, and Lesley Hague, Chancellor of Health Sciences University, who spoke about lessons learned from university mergers in the UK.
The event concluded with a closing session that summarized key findings and outlined the next steps in the development of academic management in Ukraine.
The Academic Managers Professional Development Program is a unique initiative of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, implemented by the British Council as part of the joint project of the Ministry of Education and Science and the World Bank Ukraine “Improving Higher Education in Ukraine for Results”.
