Summing up the results of the training course on structural analysis of cultural buildings
On 21 February, the Chernihiv Polytechnic National University summed up the results of the training course on the structural analysis of cultural buildings. The course is organised by UNESCO in cooperation with the Japan Funds-in-Trust, and its implementation and coordination is provided by Chernihiv Polytechnic National University.
The course programme is part of the international project “Preservation of cultural heritage in Ukraine”, which aims to strengthen monitoring, education and training of specialists for the analysis and restoration of damaged historical and cultural heritage sites.
The training was conducted by a group of international experts, including:
- Paulo B. Lourenço, one of the world’s leading experts in the field of architectural heritage conservation;
- Pedro Pacheco, UNESCO expert and President of the ICOMOS ISCARSAH Scientific Committee.
Professor Chiara Dezzi Bardeschi, Head of the UNESCO Office in Ukraine, attended the final ceremony and expressed her support for the initiatives to restore Ukrainian cultural heritage. In her speech, she stressed the importance of international cooperation in the preservation of architectural monuments and the training of new specialists capable of applying modern methods of analysis and restoration.
Rector of the Chernihiv Polytechnic National University Oleh Novomlynets stressed in his speech that such cooperation opens up new opportunities for students and teachers, helping them to gain unique knowledge and skills that meet the highest international standards.
