Signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation
On 19 January, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between Chernihiv Polytechnic National University (“ADIUTORIUM” Legal Clinic) and the Norwegian Refugee Council’s Representative Office in Ukraine.
The purpose of the Memorandum is to establish effective cooperation between the Parties to provide legal support and advice to persons affected by armed conflict, to facilitate access to quality legal services for affected populations and internally displaced persons, and to protect human rights. A separate important area of cooperation is the development of educational and training initiatives in the field of law, in particular by involving students in practical activities and developing professional skills in providing legal assistance to persons affected by the conflict.
As part of the cooperation, property was transferred for humanitarian purposes to the “ADIUTORIUM” Legal Clinic of the Chernihiv Polytechnic National University. The equipment received will contribute to:
- · ensuring the prompt, high-quality and uninterrupted provision of legal services;
- · creating comfortable conditions for persons seeking legal assistance;
- · partially covering the needs of the legal clinic, which works directly with the local population and students.
Within the framework of the Memorandum, the Parties agreed to join forces to improve access to legal aid for the affected population through the “ADIUTORIUM” Legal Clinic, as well as to promote the education and practical training of students in the field of human rights protection.
