Presentation of the project “Steps to a safe community: combating bullying among young people at the College of Economics and Technology of the National University” Chernihiv Polytechnic “

The project “Steps to safe community: bullying prevention in the youth environment” is implemented by the NGO “Chernihiv European” in partnership with the National University “Chernihiv Polytechnic” under a small grant program administered by ISAR Unity in within the framework of the United Nations Program for the Restoration and Peacebuilding with the financial support of the European Union.

On December 8, a game tournament on the board game “Danger in Jungles” and a discussion of social performance for students of the College of Economics and Technology of the National University “Chernihiv Polytechnic” took place. Social pedagogues and psychologists of general secondary schools of Chernihiv were invited to participate: №12, №29, №27, №31, №2, №28, №11, №1. During the tournament, 16 social educators and psychologists held master classes on the use of board games, received certificates of mentors of the project “Steps to a safe community: bullying prevention in the youth environment” and copies of games for implementation preventive measures with students.

Thanks to the game (answer options for possible behavior in a given situation, developed by a psychologist – an expert in the prevention of bullying and violence), participants understand that the model of bully behavior will not create a situation of future success, but tolerant and conflict-free behavior will achieve goals. The uniqueness of social performance is that through dramatization a situation of emotional consolidation of knowledge acquired during the game is created. The game and the performance draw imaginary parallels between the animal world and the human world, with emphasis on people’s ability to empathize, tolerance, kindness and empathy.

The review of the social performance “People are not animals”, which is aimed at enhancing the emotional perception of the problem of bullying and its consequences, provoked a lively discussion among the participants under the moderation of an expert psychologist of the project, Ph.D. Maksom K.V.

The actors of the performance are graduates of the specialty “Social Work”: Pavlo Klymenko, Artur Chernyavsky, Victoria Bachurna, Alisa Vasylieva, Bazhena Kukhot, Roman Bei , specialty “Fitness and Recreational Technologies”: Mykyta Hurbyk and specialty “Marketing”, Dmitry Buzyun, Artem Selyvon, MariIa Kartash, Iryna Popova, Victoriia Nemchyk, Kateryna Artemenko, Yelyzaveta Nadtochii. Sound director: Irina Chalkova, a graduate of the specialty “Social Work”.

The activities are implemented within the project “Steps to safe community: bullying prevention in the youth environment”, implemented by the NGO “Chernihiv European” under the small grants program administered by ISAR Unity under the UN Program. to restore and build peace with the financial support of the European Union.

For reference: The UN Peacebuilding Program #UNRPP is implemented by four UN agencies: the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the United Nations Framework for Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment (UN Women), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the Food and the United Nations Agricultural Organization (FAO). The UN Peacebuilding and Reconstruction Program has been providing priority needs in eastern Ukraine since the beginning of the armed conflict in the spring of 2014. The program aims to strengthen public safety and social cohesion, support the reconstruction of the economies of conflict-affected communities, and implement reforms to decentralize power and health care in the Ukrainian-controlled territories of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts.
