Online masterclasses on Building Information Modelling (BIM)

From 2 to 12 March 2026, as part of the international project The BRIDGE, lecturers and postgraduate students from the department took part in a series of online masterclasses focusing on modern approaches to Building Information Modelling (BIM).

This time, the event was organised by the project’s partner university, RWTH Aachen University (Germany), which ensured a high standard of theoretical and practical training.

The lecture component of the programme was delivered by the Director of the Institute of General Mechanics, Professor Bernd Markert, PhD. In his presentations, he highlighted key aspects of the courses ‘Mechanics of Porous Materials’ and ‘Selected Topics in Non-linear Mechanics’, focusing on modern scientific approaches and their practical significance in the construction and mechanical engineering sectors.

The theoretical knowledge gained was reinforced during a practical session led by Zhao Wu, a Master’s student at the Institute of General Mechanics. Participants had the opportunity not only to familiarise themselves with BIM tools in real-world case studies but also to gain practical skills in their application.

The event was organised as part of The BRIDGE project, co-funded by the European Union, which brings together the expertise of universities in Ukraine and the EU.
