Mykola Khomenko
And again a little history of our department…
It coincided that in May we honor the memory and celebrate the 80th birthday of another head of the department, Mykola Khomenko.
Mykola was born on May 20, 1943 in the city of Borzna, Chernihiv region, in a family of employees. He received his secondary education at Borznyan Secondary School No. 2 (1950-1960).
Immediately after graduating from school, he began work as a fourth-grade locksmith at the Sumy Refinery Plant (from July 1960 to August 1962).
From 1962 to 1967, he studied at the Kyiv Polytechnic Institute of the Order of Lenin, where he received the qualification of a mechanical engineer, specializing in “Technology and equipment of welding equipment”.
After graduation, he worked as a technological engineer at the Kharkiv Transport Equipment Plant, and then as a senior engineer at the Sumy VNII Mechanical Engineering Technology (August 1967 – March 1968).
Since September 1969, he worked as an assistant at the Chernihiv branch of the KPI at the Department of Applied Mechanics. During his work, he proved himself as a qualified mechanical engineer.
He conducted practical classes on the course of machine parts and laboratory classes on the theory of mechanisms and machines at the level that met the requirements of the programs of higher technical educational institutions in these fields of knowledge.
Since 1970, Mykola systematically increased his theoretical knowledge in the field of mechanical engineering technology and machine parts. Took an active part in the methodical work of the department, contributed to the arrangement of the laboratory of technology of machines and mechanisms and the cabinet of machine parts (remember the laboratories).
The sphere of scientific interests of Mykola at this time is:
- – the creation of spring-lever mechanisms with zero stiffness (a copyright certificate was obtained for the construction of a pneumatic valve with a built-in spring mechanism of zero stiffness),
- – welding (soldering) of heterogeneous materials based on oxides.
In 1971, he became a student of the faculty of advanced training of teachers of higher educational institutions at the Moscow State Technical University named after Bauman in the specialty “Theory of Mechanisms and Machines”.
Since September 1973, Mykola was transferred to the department of welding production. While working at the department, he performed all types of educational work: lectures, laboratory work, practical classes, and consultations on course and diploma projects, supervised practice.
The course and diploma projects completed by students under the guidance of M. Khomenko were computationally, theoretically, and practically saturated; mostly had a real basis, which was expressed in the needs of production.
The teacher tried to convey the available stock of knowledge and the latest information in the field of welding production to the students. Mastered and read lectures on the course “Gas plasma processing of materials”, conducted laboratory work on the disciplines “Gas plasma processing of materials”, “Theory of welding processes”, “Technology and equipment of electric arc fusion welding”, “Technology, mechanization and automation of welding production”, “Calculation and design of welded structures”, “Strength of welded structures”, “Materials science”.
M. Khomenko carried out extensive scientific work related to the issues of joining disparate materials and developing equipment for these processes. Constantly contacted the enterprises of the country. He completed an internship at the department of the welding faculty of the Kyiv Polytechnic Institute and the Chernihiv radio equipment factory. With his direct participation, farm contract work was performed in the field of welding and soldering of glass, silicon and metal assemblies.
Mykola was engaged in public work. He was the curator of academic groups, responsible for the educational and technological direction of the department and the mechanical faculty.
In 1985, Mykola defended his thesis for the degree of candidate of technical sciences, majoring in “Machines and equipment for welding production” (March 5, 2006).
Since 1989, he worked as a senior researcher at the Department of Mechanical Engineering Technology of the Chernihiv branch of the Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.
This period of his scientific activity is related to the study of material science issues of mechano-chemical influence on the surface of materials with the aim of giving them the properties necessary for obtaining monolithic composite joints.
At the same time, the scientist was engaged in the design of technological equipment and equipment for the formation of composite joints.
Technological and research and design developments carried out by M. Khomenko are widely used in the production of semiconductor integral pressure transducers (sensors).
At the department, Mykola taught general engineering (“Machine details”, “Theory of mechanisms and machines”, “Metallurgy”) and special (“Fusion welding technology and equipment”, “Calculation and design of welded structures”; “Technology, mechanization and automation welding production”; “Gas plasma processing of metals”; “Welding of plastics and gluing of metals”; “Special methods of welding and soldering”) disciplines.
Since May 1990, he worked as a senior researcher at the Department of Computers and Programming, and from 1992 – an associate professor at the Department of Welding Production, from 1993 – a leading researcher at the Department of Welding Production, an associate professor at the Department of Computers and Programming, and in 1995 – an associate professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering Technology.
During the period of work, he executed 10 business contracts, holding the positions of responsible executor and manager.
The works managed by M. Khomenko are included in the comprehensive state program entitled “Research, development of technology and equipment for connecting converter nodes”.
In 1997, Mykola Khomenko defended his doctoral thesis on the topic “Scientific and technological foundations of electrochemical welding in the solid phase of crystalline materials with ion-conducting glass.”
In 1998, he was transferred to the department of welding production to the position of associate professor.
Since 1999, M. Khomenko has been the head of the department of welding production.
Mykola Khomenko passed away on May 5, 2002.
On June 20, 2002, based on the submissions of academic councils, Mykola Khomenko was awarded the academic title of professor of the department.
Remembering and honoring its history and the significant achievements of previous generations of scientists and teachers, the Scientific Library of the Chernihiv Polytechnic National University continues the series of bibliographic indexes “History of Chernihiv Polytechnic National University in personalities”.
This issue is dedicated to the scientific and pedagogical activities of Mykola Khomenko, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor – URI: http://ir.stu.cn.ua/123456789/27645
