Final round table of the “Together We Can” programme
On 19 November, the Chernihiv Polytechnic National University hosted the final round table of the “Together We Can” programme. Participants, ranging from activists to government officials, summarised the results of a year of activities aimed at strengthening community resilience and involving people in the region’s recovery process.
The purpose of the event was to present the results of the work of Chernihiv region ambassadors and discuss approaches that comply with the principles of UN Security Council Resolutions 1325 “Women, Peace and Security” and 2250 “Youth, Peace and Security” and the EU’s strategic vision for supporting stability in Ukraine. Participants discussed the results of pilot initiatives aimed at developing community leadership, inclusion, social cohesion, psychosocial support, security and recovery. Representatives of the authorities and civil society outlined the key challenges facing communities and emphasised the importance of partnerships between different sectors for the effective implementation of policies on recovery, inclusion and youth participation.
Olha Melnyk, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work and Social Development, Chair of the NGO “Centre for Gender Education”, addressed the audience with a welcoming speech. She emphasised that the ‘Together We Can” project has become an important resource for leadership development, youth support and the implementation of approaches based on the principles of equality and inclusion. The project ambassadors presented their work, which covered topics such as women’s and youth leadership, support for vulnerable groups, local community development and youth involvement in decision-making. The project coordinator in the region, Nataliia Shakun, presented the results of monitoring the implementation of regional policies based on international standards of peace and security.
The round table discussed the problems faced by communities in the Chernihiv region and the practical steps needed for the further development of the regional programmes “Women. Peace. Security” and “Youth. Peace. Security”. At the end of the event, analytical notes were presented on the results of the implementation of the Second National Action Plan “Women. Peace. Security” and the formation of a new regional youth policy for 2026-2030. The recommendations developed will form the basis for further strengthening the resilience and development of local communities.
This project is being implemented in cooperation with the non-governmental organisation “Human Rights Foundation” and is funded by the Institute for Foreign Cultural Relations (IFA) with funds from the Federal Foreign Office of the Federal Republic of Germany.
