Creative Practices of Philology Students: The Power of Words as a Space for Support

Students of the B11 Philology (English Language and Translation) program held a unique event that combined informal communication, creative activities, and psychological support. For future philologists, words are not only a professional tool but also an important resource for inner balance and harmony. Philology is not only about studying languages and texts but also about deeply understanding how words affect a person, their thinking, and their emotional state. In today’s conditions, when young people’s mental health requires special attention, kind words, sincere support, and creative ways of working with language become powerful factors in developing resilience, inspiration, and optimism. That is why such meetings have not only educational but also therapeutic value for students.

During the event, students took part in a series of interactive exercises:

  • “Warm Words” – creating a dictionary of compliments and sincere wishes, which will become a symbol of mutual support for the group.
  • “Philology Affirmations” – developing individual motivational statements for study and everyday life.
  • “Philology Laughter Therapist” – inventing creative and humorous “dictionary” definitions for favorite dishes and drinks.
  • “I am a Novel Hero” – a game where each participant tried the role of a literary character and discovered their own inner resources.
  • “Anti-Procrastination Recipes” – playful tips designed to help overcome the habit of postponing important tasks.

The atmosphere of the event was very warm and sincere: students laughed, shared positive emotions, exchanged experiences, and received a boost of inspiration. Such meetings help young people feel connected, develop creativity, and learn to find support in words and community.

These initiatives are especially important for students studying in a frontline city. They help reduce anxiety, create a sense of safety and trust, and remind participants that even in difficult conditions, the power of words can be a source of inspiration, mutual understanding, and inner resilience.
