Congratulations on your 85th birthday!
Today, May 31, 2023, Pavlo Melnyk, who devoted 43 years of his life to Chernihiv Polytechnic National University, celebrates his 85th birthday.
Pavlo Melnyk was born on May 31, 1938 in the village of Kulchyny, Krasyliv district, Khmelnytskyi region.
In 1955, he graduated from the Kulchyn secondary school. From 1955 to 1960, he studied at the Lviv Polytechnic Institute, upon completion of which he received the qualification of an engineer-economist, majoring in “Economics and organization of the machine-building industry”.
From September 1960 to July 1961, he worked as an engineer of the planned production department of the Novohrad-Volyn machine-building plant of the Zhytomyr region.
From July 1961, he worked at the Institute of Industrial Economics of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR, first as a junior researcher, and from 1964 as a senior researcher. In the same year 1964, Pavlo got his first teaching experience, in particular, in the period from 1964 to 1965, he worked part-time at the Donetsk Polytechnic Institute as a teacher of the discipline “Economics, organization and planning of the machine-building industry.”
In 1970, P. Melnyk completed postgraduate studies at the Institute of Industrial Economics of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR and defended his thesis for the degree of Candidate of Economic Sciences.
In 1973, Pavlo started working at our University, first as an associate professor of the Department of Mechanical Engineering Technology of the Chernihiv branch of the Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, later as acting head of the newly created Department of Economics and Organization of Production and Occupational Safety of the Chernihiv branch of the Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, and from 1977 as the head of the first economic department , namely the department of economics and organization of production and labor protection of the Chernihiv branch of the Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, which in the course of its functioning and development became the founder of other economic departments of our university, and now bears the name of the department of finance, banking and insurance.
In the process of his scientific activity, he carried out research on the management of scientific and technical progress on the order of the Government of Ukraine, on the organization of production at enterprises within the framework of the All-Union inter-university program, on the planning of financial and economic activities of enterprises – on the order of the Ministry of Coal Industry of Ukraine. He was the head and main executor of 12 farm-contracted scientific works on various issues of economy and enterprise finance, the results of which were implemented at such large enterprises as the Novo-Kramatorsk and Staro-Kramatorsk Machine-Building Plants, the Donetsk, Druzhkiv, Luhansk, and Horlovsky Coal Machine-Building Plants, the Mariupol Plant “Azovmash”, Uralmash, Luhansk Diesel Locomotive Plant and Riga Electric Locomotive Plant and others.
Pavlo Melnyk headed the department from October 1977 to August 1991 and in subsequent years, from November 1999 to November 2004. Subsequently, from 2004 to 2016, he worked as an associate professor at the Department of Finance, Banking and Insurance.
Pavlo has significant achievements in the scientific field for the period from 1962 to 2016. He published more than 60 scientific works, including more than 50 articles, monographs, brochures and numerous methodological developments in the academic disciplines of the department.
During his time at the university, Pavlo proved himself to be a highly qualified specialist, a leading specialist in the field of finance, who has extensive scientific, pedagogical and practical work experience.
During the years of pedagogical activity at the university, Pavlo Melnyk took an active part in public life and education of students, showed high professional knowledge and significant teaching skills, made a significant contribution to the formation and development of the material and technical and scientific and methodological base of the Department of Finance, Banking and Insurance.
As a benevolent and decent person, Pavlo Melnyk enjoys a well-deserved reputation among his fellow teachers and university graduates to this day.
