“CHERNIHIV SHIELD”: SCREENING AND DISCUSSION OF THE DOCUMENTARY BY PHILOLOGY STUDENTS
On the occasion of the Day of Defenders of Ukraine, a curatorial session was held for first-year philology students (IF-251, 252). Its purpose was to honour the courage of Ukrainian soldiers and all those who defended our country in its hardest days.
During the meeting, students watched the documentary “Chernihiv Shield” (2025), which tells the story of the heroic defence of Chernihiv region in February–April 2022. It shows the first months of the full-scale invasion of Russian troops, when Ukrainian soldiers, volunteers, and local residents united to stop the enemy.
The film includes testimonies of servicemen, volunteers, and officials of that time, as well as archival footage, documents, historical facts, and military-analytical data. Authors: the communication group of the Territorial Defence Forces “North” and TRO Media. Director – Volodymyr Berezynskyi. Artistic director – Akhtem Seitablaiev.
After the screening, a discussion was held, where students raised important questions:
- – Who is a true defender of Ukraine for us?
- – What is the significance of the defence of Chernihiv for modern history?
- – What is the contribution of volunteers and civilians to the common struggle?
- – Which lessons of this story should be kept and passed on to the next generations?
Such meetings help young people better understand the importance of the events of 2022, and they nurture gratitude and pride for those who defend Ukraine’s independence.
