On February 2, 2024, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work and Social Development, Assoc. O.E. Melnyk, honorary professor of the university, Assoc. Kruk O.I., head Department of Philosophy and Social Sciences, Assoc. Shakun N.V. took part in the All-Ukrainian scientific and practical conference “Social and Philosophical Thought of Ukraine: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow”.

The conference was held on the basis of the Chernihiv Collegium National University named after T. G. Shevchenko and was dedicated to the memory of doctors of philosophy, professors A. I. Melnyk and V. I. Shevchenko. The participants of the event discussed the role of the philosopher in the history of Ukraine, philosophical and educational thought of Chernihiv-Siver Oblast, national security of Ukraine, education as an element of social transformations and prospects for its development, etc.

The leitmotif of the discussion was the idea of preserving and multiplying wisdom in modern society, which faced security, axiological, and ethical challenges. The participants of the conference fondly mentioned the creativity of Chernihiv wise men and expressed their belief in the need to inherit, preserve and multiply their wisdom.
