A guest lecture by a foreign expert in commercial law was held for law students
On 12 March 2026, a guest online lecture was held for law students, focusing on current issues in international and European trade law. The event featured a guest speaker, Nadiya Nychay – a representative of the international law firm Jones Day – as part of the “Future of Europe Programme – European Union Law Studies for Ukraine”.
During the lecture, students were introduced to the key principles of the international trading system, in particular the principle of predictability in trade policy, as well as the main instruments of state trade policy: customs tariffs, quotas, subsidies and technical regulations. The lecturer paid particular attention to the mechanisms for resolving trade disputes within the World Trade Organisation and the specific features of the functioning of European Union trade law in the context of the internal market.
Current challenges in the field of international trade were also examined, in particular issues of digital trade, the resilience of global supply chains, climate policy, sanctions and geopolitical competition
Hosting such guest lectures helps to broaden students’ professional horizons, familiarise them with the practical aspects of international trade law, and deepen their knowledge of European Union law.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the lecturer for a substantive and interesting lecture, as well as for his willingness to share his professional experience and knowledge with the students!
