A blog café was held on the implementation of UN Security Council Resolutions 1325 and 2250 in communities
On 5 June 2025, a discussion event in the format of a blog café was held at the Law Faculty of the Chernihiv Polytechnic National University on the topic: ‘Implementation of UN Security Council Resolutions 1325 and 2250 in communities: the role of youth and women in peacebuilding.’
The event was organised by Alla NITCHENKO, ambassador of the ‘Together We Can’ project team, as part of the pilot initiative ‘Youth and Women in Peace Dialogue: Implementation of UN Security Council Resolutions’.
The event was attended by young people, community activists, representatives of student self-government, as well as internally displaced persons currently residing in Chernihiv.
During the blog cafe, participants analysed the key provisions and objectives of UN Security Council Resolutions 1325 ‘Women, Peace and Security’ and 2250 ‘Youth, Peace and Security’; familiarised themselves with the concepts of gender equality and gender-sensitive approach; considered examples of women’s and youth participation in peacebuilding processes at the local and national levels; discussed ways to effectively involve young people in the monitoring and evaluation of peacebuilding measures in communities.
Special attention was paid to developing the content of the electronic guide ‘How can young people contribute to peace and security?’, which will become a practical tool for youth activists.
Overall, the event helped engage young people in discussions about security, justice and the role of women and youth in restoring peace, which is especially important in times of war.
The project is being implemented in cooperation with the non-governmental organisation ‘Human Rights Foundation’ and is funded by the Institute for Foreign Cultural Relations (IFA) with funds from the Federal Foreign Office of Germany. In the Chernihiv region, the project is being implemented by the NGO ‘Centre for Gender Education’ in cooperation with the Chernihiv Polytechnic National University.
