The concept of project was created on synergistic approach to education is a methodology and approach to teaching and upbringing based on the principles of synergy and systems thinking. This is manifested in the leading role of education for sustainable development, which promotes harmony between people, on the one hand, and society and nature, on the other, and the acquisition of such competencies as critical thinking, imagining future scenarios, making joint decisions, resolving contradictions between nature and society, between ecology and economy, between present and future generations, between established and reasonable human needs, etc. The use of European experience to promote the ideology of sustainable development among Ukrainian higher education institutions and build the capacity of higher education on the basis of cooperation is possible thanks to the interaction of the consortium partners, integration of their efforts to achieve project goals.

The general goal of the project is defined as contribution to strengthening the capacity of higher education institutions to advocate for sustainability in the post-war recovery of Ukraine through development of competencies for sustainable management and leadership.

The specific objectives are:

  1. to define the role and to assess the potential of universities in shaping the competencies of students in the field of sustainable development management;
  2. to develop and to implement course on sustainable development management for successful employment of graduates accordingly to the needs of Ukraine’s recovery;
  3. to develop transfer of knowledge mechanisms between HEIs through creation of a Virtual SD-Lab of sustainable actions;
  4. to support the coopetition between HEIs in the “business-university-community” triad and their capacity building to ensure sustainable growth.
