The New Language Laboratory Enhances the Training Quality of Future Translators

The Department of Foreign Philology is proud to announce an important improvement of its facilities: the installation and launch of a modern language laboratory have been successfully completed. This initiative is an essential part of the strategy of Chernihiv Polytechnic National University and the Department, aimed at introducing innovative technologies into foreign-language teaching and improving the training of translators.

The language laboratory is a specialized space equipped with individual workstations, high-quality computers, headsets with active noise-cancelling, and professional software. This equipment creates excellent conditions for practising all aspects of the language, focusing on modern teaching methods.

In particular, the new laboratory greatly supports the development of pronunciation and intonation skills. Thanks to the individual audio-control function, students can record their speech, compare it with native-speaker models, and receive immediate feedback from the teacher. In addition, the innovative equipment helps students improve their listening skills, as it allows them to train understanding of fast, natural speech using authentic audio and video materials.

Students of philology have already started practising advanced phonetic and communicative skills required for fluent language use — including Shadowing Practice. This method of active listening and simultaneous repetition helps students automate articulation, improve intonation patterns, and make their speech closer to native-speaker standards.

The launch of the language laboratory confirms the Department’s commitment to providing students with tools that meet modern requirements of international communication and educational standards.
